Yavapai County is the seventh largest county in Arizona, with a total land area of more than 8122.9 square miles. Its county seat is Prescott. The county was established in 1864 and has about 236,209 residents.

The Yavapai County Superior Court serves as the highest trial court of general jurisdiction in the county. Felony prosecutions are exclusive to the Superior Court. The court may also handle misdemeanor trials.
